On this International Youth Day 2025, we proudly highlights the voices of young people with deafblindness worldwide. To mark this important day, the WFDB Youth Committee has published a powerful Manifesto of Youth with Deafblindness, outlining their principles, demands, and commitments toward building a more inclusive and accessible world.
The manifesto comes just weeks after the historic recognition of June 27 as the International Day of Deafblindness by the United Nations in 2025. Together, these milestones spotlight the unique challenges and strengths of the deafblind community, while emphasizing the vital role youth play in driving sustainable development and social change.
Under the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” the manifesto calls for greater visibility, accessibility, and authentic representation of youth with deafblindness in all spheres of life. It demands governments and organizations include young deafblind persons in policymaking, ensure full rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), and support youth-led platforms like the WFDB Youth Committee.
The WFDB Youth Committee pledges to lead local actions, build peer networks, and advocate tirelessly to dismantle barriers and promote a culture of inclusion and empowerment.
On this International Youth Day, WFDB celebrates the creativity, resilience, and leadership of young people with deafblindness as they transform local actions into global progress.
