It is with deep regret that the upcoming WFDB General Assembly (GA) has been postponed and the Helen Keller World Conference (HKWC) cancelled. The HKWC will be replaced by a 2-day regional workshop on the 2nd WFDB Global Report.
Due to practical and logistical challenges, among others caused by the aftermath of COVID-19 and funding constraints as well as difficulties in obtaining information needed to support Visa applications, it was decided to postpone the event until late October 2022.
With the dates to be confirmed shortly, we aim to reorganise and conduct the WFDB GA and a 2-day regional workshop on the 2nd WFDB Global report, replacing the HKWC, as well as provide time and space for The African Federation of the Deafblind (AFDB) to organize its GA during the event.
We apologise for this turn of events and any inconvenience caused for those who have already made arrangements to attend in September. For all practical purposes, the work carried out by the WFDB Team so far and the logistic support received from the IDA Secretariat will be resumed.
Lastly, we apologise again for making the decision to postpone the WFDB GA and to replace the HKWC with a regional workshop. It was not made lightly, yet if it had not been made, we would have been at risk of having to cancel the entire event.
We hope to see everyone in Nairobi, Kenya, in late October 2022.
