WFDB is a consortium partner in the SHAPES Project, an EU-funded project led by Maynooth University which focuses on the long-term sustainability of health and social care systems in Europe to improve the independence and autonomy of older persons.
In our 2nd Global Report published last March on the situation of persons with deafblindness: Good Practices and Recommendations, we have included a case study which shares lessons to ensure the participation of persons with deafblindness in mainstream programmes (Page 80), as well as the testimony of Alegría, an older woman with deafblindness from the Canary Islands who showcases the importance of assistive devices and accessible technology in her life (Page 66).
