Are you a woman with deafblindness eager to make a difference?
We’re excited to announce the formation of a new Women’s Committee at the World Federation of the Deafblind (WFDB) — and we’re looking for passionate representatives like you to join us!
Why join?
This voluntary role offers a unique opportunity to engage actively with the global disability community, strengthen your leadership skills, and represent women with deafblindness on the international stage.
The committee’s primary task will be to guide and co-develop WFDB’s first Global Report on Women with Deafblindness, ensuring full ownership and legitimacy of its findings and recommendations. However, the role will not end with the report’s publication. The WFDB Women’s Committee is envisioned as a long-term leadership and advisory body, serving a four-year mandate after its election.
Selection process
The WFDB Board will select members based on factors such as age, geographical diversity, professional and personal background, and representation of minority groups.
We encourage all women who identify as deafblind, and who have access to a laptop and internet connection, to apply.
Please note that currently no funding is available for Deafblind interpreter costs for online participation. However, we want to emphasise that securing funding for Deafblind interpreters/guide interpreters will be one of the main objectives of the committee.
Criteria
- You must identify as a woman
- You must identify as a person with deafblindness
- You must be a member of an organisation of persons with deafblindness
- Fluent in English
- Have access to the internet
How to apply
Please send your CV and a motivation letter explaining your interest in joining the WFDB Women’s Committee to communication@wfdb.eu by Monday 28 July 2025.
