Celebrating the first Fashion Show of Deafblind Women in Croatia: “Visibility is power. Inclusion changes everything.”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

As Women\u2019s Awareness Month<\/strong> comes to a close, the World Federation of the Deafblind (WFDB)<\/strong> proudly highlights a powerful and inspiring initiative from Croatia \u2014 the first-ever Fashion Show of Deafblind Women.<\/p>\n

Organized in collaboration with the Croatian Deafblind Association \u201cDodir\u201d<\/strong>, this unique event celebrated the strength, confidence, and individuality of deafblind women, while sending a clear and important message: visibility is the first step toward equality.<\/p>\n

Held at the Zagreb City Museum<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, the fashion show brought together deafblind women who walked the runway wearing historical costumes, supported by interpreters and a strong community of professionals and volunteers. The result was not only a fashion event, but a deeply emotional and empowering experience for all involved.<\/p>\n

A special international dimension was added through the participation of Mireia Mendoza from Spain<\/strong> \u2014 a deafblind model, activist, and long-time supporter of WFDB \u2014 whose presence inspired participants and reinforced the importance of global solidarity among deafblind communities.<\/p>\n

The event was further enriched by the contribution of George Pantermarakis from Greece<\/strong>, a young deafblind advocate who supports WFDB through international digital content and storytelling, helping amplify the voices of deafblind persons worldwide.<\/p>\n

This initiative was made possible through strong partnerships and shared commitment. WFDB extends its sincere gratitude to the Croatian National Tourist Board<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, dm drogerie markt Croatia<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, and the Zagreb City Museum<\/strong> for their invaluable support.<\/p>\n

Importantly, the participation of international guests and the broader impact of this initiative were supported by the Assist EU Project<\/strong>. Through this collaboration, WFDB and its partners were able to contribute to:<\/p>\n

  • the dissemination of research results on deafblind mothers and their access to healthcare in Croatia<\/li>\n
  • the strengthening of inclusive practices<\/li>\n
  • and the empowerment of deafblind women, including mothers, through meaningful and visible initiatives such as this fashion show<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This event is not just a milestone \u2014 it is a beginning. It reflects what is possible when collaboration, inclusion, and belief in human potential come together.<\/p>\n
